But the HMD is temperamental and on first connect is detected as USB 2.0 on any of these controllers.Įventually it is detected as USB 3.0 from unplugging/replugging, or booting with the HMD already connected seems to work every time. The sensors always connect as USB 3.0 through any of my 3.0 ports (onboard Intel, onboard ASMedia, Orico 4 port Fresco 1100EX card).

In the end a manual driver update through device manager updated it to 1.16.38.1 and I'm now setup and all seems well! I'm up and running now, I was curious about the ASMedia driver as it seemed to be problematic in the past with a lot of discussion about it, until driver 1.16.36.1 landed a while back and was reported as good but I couldn't find much feedback after this. Thanks for the info dude, much appreciated! That's probably coming directly from Asmedia.

It's this one: Asmedia_USB3_V1.16.35.1 So I'm not aware of the 36.x driver version. The USB of the headset is also in my original host but I think I just used one of the USB 2 connectors for that.Ĭhair experience for Elite Dangerous was already great in this setup.ĮDIT: just checked the ASUS site which driver it was. One sensor is connected to in original USB 3 host. I can't even reach the entire area!Īnyway: two of the sensors are connected to the Asmedia dual connector card. Now I need to extend my HDMI+USB chords for the headset. Oculus setup tool was complaining my 3rd sensor was too far to the back but f*ck them! My play space is almost 4 meters deep and 3 wide :D :D It seems to be working fine even though I haven't been in VR to much and cabling is still temporarily in place.

Installed it last weekend for the 3rd sensor and did a total new setup on my PC for the drivers (Just pulled the latest drivers from the Asus support site so don't know exactly what version). I have an ASMEDIA card that came with my Asus x99 Deluxe USB3.1 mainboard. btw, if you are considering the Orico card, be careful not to choose one of the other similar Orico cards (the similar 5 port card uses a different controller i.e. I didn't want to recommend the Orico card until I find the issue with the HMD, but the sensors seem fine. If I plug it in after boot then it connects as USB 2.0, a few unplugs and replugs usually get it recognised as USB 3.0, but it's annoying and I'm still investigating the issue. If I boot with the HMD connected it's detected as USB 3.0 on all controllers. I do have an issue with the HMD though, which is temperamental on all of my controllers (Intel chipset, ASMedia, and the Orico's Fresco controller). The Orico 4 port card I've had two sensors on it running without a problem, I updated to this driverĪnd both sensors detected as USB 3.0 without issue. The ASMedia controller is working fine (updating through device manager found and installed 1.16.38.1), which is odd as I'm sure I tried this the other day and it didn't find this driver, but I'm not complaining. TLDR: Has anyone had issues with ASMedia 1.16.36.1 driver

I'm just thinking ahead and do like an optimal setup when possible :) It's no biggy if it isn't, I understand that generally the third sensor is recommended to run as a USB 2 device, and the third sensor can always share the PCIE expansion card controller with the HMD. I've done a ton of reading up, read all the reddit and oculus forum posts, and have the 1.16.36.1 driver ready to go for the Asmedia controller.Įverything I've read suggests this driver is good and works fine with Oculus as a USB 3 port so I'm just asking for confirmation from anyone that uses this controller with this driver that everything is still good. The mobo also has Asmedia USB 3.1 controller (type A) which I hope to use for an additional third sensor (my plan is first two sensors on the Intel chipset, HMD on the PCIE card, third sensor on Asmedia controller). USB controller wise I'm good (have an Asus Maximus Hero VIII mobo with Intel controlled 3.0 ports, also have a Fresco 1100 controlled 4 port PCIE card in the post). I have the Oculus bundle in the post and are super excited and have a question for you kind folk.
